When people begin to consider the need for a preparedness plan, food storage is usually on the top of their list. Obviously, food is a necessity of life so people naturally look for solutions to their food needs in a crisis situation.
While there is certainly a need for food storage in a preparedness plan, storing food is not necessarily the total solution to the family sustenance needs. An effective and long-term food strategy should be considered.
Growing food is a great solution for long-term planning, however, there may be restrictions with some families due to land, equipment, and perhaps climate. There are other potentials such as community gardens, alternative growing methods, etc., that may allow for food production regardless of the spacing limitations.
