As we enter into the second quarter of our year, we are still reminded of the vital need to PREPARE. Perhaps there is not a single catastrophic event that is grabbing media front-page headlines, but we are seeing increasing disruptions and upheavals that remind us of something larger that may be coming. These birth-pangs help us to get our families better prepared for what may be ahead.
We certainly do not want to live in fear or hopelessness. Preparedness is not an absence of life, rather it is the very act of cherishing and preserving the JOY of living! We do not give up our lives in our efforts to prepare. Preparedness is a lifestyle choice that places the emphasis on living and prospering even as we may encounter calamities and difficulties.
The simple fact is – we do continue to face uncertainties and dangers that can disrupt our lives without notice. The relative calm days are a perfect time for us to take inventory of our readiness and perhaps practice our preparedness skills. It is not a time to relax and ignore the dangers we face.
In the last month, we have again seen the painful reality that we share the world with dangerous people who have every intention to cause as much damage and death as possible. The world was horrified when these people unleashed their terror in Belgium and hurt so many innocent lives. We pray for the families and everyone who was affected by this terrible deed.
We know the desire of these terrorists was (and is) to inflict pain and suffering, yet, even Government officials stated openly that we were terribly unprepared for the destruction that they ultimately inflicted. How is that possible? We know the dangers, but our Governments still comment that we remain unprepared?
In the wake of this terrible terrorist tragedy, we are reminded once again of the need to be prepared. Let us hope that we will not become complacent or assume Governments and others have developed complete plans for our protection and survival. Certainly we appreciate the efforts of our government agencies and officials, but ultimately it is our responsibility to be prudent and disciplined in our preparedness planning.
It is our sincerest hope that within the Digital or Print pages of PREPARE Magazine that you are finding encouragement and are able to use this work, this labor of love as a means to encourage others.
